NEW BOOK ON JURY TRIALS AS OPPOSED TO PLEA BARGAINING

There is a new book 'Jury Trials and Plea Bargaining: a true history by Mike McConville and Chester L. Mirsky'(Portland : Hart Pub., 2005). It traces the use of plea bargaining taking precedence over trial by jury in the mid 1800s using NY City statistics and traces it to modern practice. The study is broadened to discuss the social factors involved.
