Samuel Pond and Jerry Lehocky Create Trial Advocacy Scholarship at Temple University Beasley School of Law

Once classmates, now law partners, attorneys Samuel H. Pond and Jerry M. Lehocky have found a way to give back to the institution that launched their highly successful careers in law. The two partners at Philadelphia-based Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano, the largest workers' compensation and Social Security Disability law firm in the region, have established the Pond and Lehocky Scholarship Fund in Trial Advocacy, an award to be given annually to a student with a focus on trial advocacy at Temple University's Beasley School of Law.

"We share a bond of pride in having attended Temple Law," says Pond, "and we also share a debt of gratitude for what that education made possible."

Lehocky agrees. "That gratitude is what prompted us to establish this scholarship. We are excited and honored to be able to provide this yearly award to a Temple Law student who understands and emphasizesthe importance of trial advocacy."

Pond and Lehocky first met in law school and formed a friendship that has flourished ever since. Throughout the years they've developeda mutual respect for one another, first as opposing counsel, and later, more deeply, as partners. In 2010, they founded Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano, where Pond serves as managing partner. Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pond Lehocky is the largest firm of its kind in the region and represents workers' compensation clients throughout Pennsylvania and Social Security disability clients in all 50 states, as well as Puerto Rico.

Both Pond and Lehocky share a passion for advocating for workers' rights and, as seasoned trial lawyers, espouse the importance of trial advocacy. Their scholarship helps pass the torch to young law students eager to further its rich tradition.

The first scholarship will be awarded at a luncheon this Thursday,November 14.
