THE ACADEMY OF ADVOCACY

The Academy of Advocacy at Temple University, Beasley School of Law is a week long trial practice course. It is directed by Clifford E. Haines and faculty including prominent lawyers and judges. It aims to assist trial lawyers in whatever specific litigation areas and is being held at Temple Law School June 11-27, 2006.

EXPERT EVIDENCE, THE ADVERSARY SYSTEM AND THE JURY

In an article by Neil Vidmar "Expert Evidence, the Adversary System, and the Jury", the author discounts the arguments of critics regarding the juries ability to deal competently with expert witnesses. Empirical research indicates that juries understand instructions regarding expert evidence, are given instructions on expert evidence in light of other evidence and that they do not simply defer to experts.
